Level I FAP 8 week online training starting 12:30pm-2:15 pm Pacific Standard Time April 6th
(or as soon as there are 6-8 members)
This training is for clinicians who 1) have attended a weekend FAP workshop and want a more ongoing experience with a small group, or 2) newcomers to FAP who are committed to being authentic and to intentionally going beyond their comfort zones in personal and professional development.

Course content: Exercises and homework assignments facilitate self-exploration, self-disclosure and risk-taking, and include the sharing of life stories, weekly risk logs, and loss histories. This will be an intense bonding and personal growth experience, and is suitable only for those who are willing to be interpersonally vulnerable.

There will be 2-4 hours of homework per week, including assignments involving clients. You will have an opportunity to do a FAP case conceptualization on a client and to briefly present the case and receive feedback. This is not a typical supervision group in that we will not be following your clients week to week. The emphasis is on general therapist training to increase skills in becoming 1) more aware, courageous, and therapeutically loving; 2) more effective in doing in-vivo work with client problems that come up in session, and particularly in promoting client target behaviors in session and helping clients generalize those to daily life.

Research from three different studies has shown the format of these groups to be highly effective in increasing FAP skills no matter who the trainers are as long as they are FAP experts. This group will be led by Daniel Maitland, Ph.D., a certified FAP trainer, and his co-leader in training, Joanna Dudek, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate. They have both worked intensively with FAP co-creator Mavis Tsai, Ph.D., and each has the ability to move fluidly between being intellectually astute and emotionally vulnerable as needed.

Fee for 8 week trainings: $650 with a $25 discount for those who sign up with a colleague. Space is available for a maximum of 8 individuals. We are committed to providing FAP training to everyone who is interested, and will discuss payment plans as needed. High speed internet is required along with a back up telephone line.

Please send Mavis an email through the contact link on the home page if you are interested in joining this group, or if you would like a link to join a free one hour meeting with Mavis, Daniel, and Joanna at 12:30 pm Wednesday, March 30th to experience the technology and to learn something you can use immediately to supercharge your next client session.
